Fatherly Love in Walkabout
Happy Father’s Day from the Mighty Coconuts! Today is a day where we’re excited to celebrate dads and father-figures everywhere, from unconditional love and support to dad jokes and loud sneezes!
One of our favorite perks of working on Walkabout Mini Golf is hearing about how the game has touched the lives of our players. We’ve heard so many lovely stories about how our game has brought people closer together from thousands of miles apart, bridged generational gaps and reconnected loved ones who had lost touch. In fact, this was the primary inspiration for our Share the Love contest, as we wanted to give our incredible players a chance to share their stories with the world — and maybe even win some prizes, too!
In recognition of the Father’s Day festivities, we wanted to share some stories that resonated with us that feature fathers or father-figures. For those who submitted to Share the Love, please note that if your story is featured here, it will have no bearing either way on your chances of winning. We hope you enjoy them as much as we did!
EDIL’S STORY
“My father, who is now 74, has always been a golfer, and we only used to golf whenever he visited me once a year after I moved from my hometown of Puerto Rico. Unfortunately, he is no longer able to golf due to medical reasons, and his days of golfing are now a thing of the past, so is the joy and experience of being able to golf with my old man. Your game has become a tradition to us and perhaps is one of the few games I actually get to play on a daily basis, not just to unwind and have fun, but to share with my aging father, almost 2,000 miles away. Thank you guys!”
CRAIG’S STORY
“Walkabout Mini Golf has been an incredible experience for me and my child, bringing us closer together in ways I hadn’t anticipated. What sets Walkabout Mini Golf apart is how it’s not just about the game itself; it’s about the time spent together, laughing, learning, and challenging each other in a fun, relaxed environment. Whether we’re teaming up to complete a course in the least amount of strokes or competing head-to-head, each round brings us closer, creating memories and inside jokes that we’ll cherish for a long time. What truly makes Walkabout Mini Golf special is its ability to turn simple moments into something memorable. It’s not about winning or losing; it’s about the connection, the shared experiences, and the joy of spending quality time together in a virtual world.”
GREG’S STORY
"As a child, my father and I had the typical father-son relationship - I did what he said, end of story. As an adult, I reached for a deeper connection, but as we lived in different US states, this was typically relegated to a phone call, and the usual, 'How are you? Fine. How was your holiday? Fine. How's the weather? Fine.' Click. Everything changed when I played Walkabout Mini Golf for the first time. Through Walkabout Mini Golf, I gained the relationship with my father I always wanted, but I also gained something never expected - a friend."
